Daily Magickal Exercises

These are a set of energy exercises and meditations that I do daily to keep my magickal skills strong. They exercise such skills as visualization, energy manipulation, chakras, energy channeling, centering and grounding, meditation, etc. Once you practice the set a few times it should only take you about 10-15min each time to complete it.

Centering and Grounding:
- A lot of people say “Ground and Center” when the actual process is in reverse. Why would you reach out to another power source before you have gathered your own? To Center yourself find a quiet place and a comfortable sitting position. Close your eyes, make sure your back is straight and breathe deeply and slowly. Focus on your breath and quiet your mind. Now focus on your place of power or energy center. Different people have different energy centers, most feel it is their Solar Chakra (located near the naval or diaphragm) which is where I normally focus. See a ball of bright yellow light shine within you where the naval/diaphragm is located. Visualize this yellow ball of light becoming a small Sun that pulls in all your loose unfocused energy. Breathe softly but deep. Now it is time to Ground. The simplest way is to visualize roots extending from your lower body into the Earth below, then visualize the “black” negative energy (tension, anxiety, stress, doubt) drain from you and be released into the Earth from your roots. The Earth is a strong energy source and will purify any negative energy it receives and recycle it in a positive way. Another way to ground is with what I call the Waterfall of Light, basically you visualize white cosmic light showering down on you washing away all “black” negativity from you, once cleared be sure to drain any remaining light that is within you.

Going Deeper:
- After you have Centered and Ground yourself you will now be able to enter a deeper meditative state. Visualize there is a screen within your mind. On the screen is the number 12, take a deep breathe in, exhale slowly and see the number count down to 11, continue this way until you reach 0. Then affirm silently in your mind “I am now in a deep meditative state.” (*note* when finished with your meditation be sure to count up from 1-12 and back to your normal consciousness.)

Energizing the Chakras:
-Visualize a white cord of light extend from the tip of your spine and root into the earth below, see this cord connect with the Heart of the Earth (the Earths core). Once connected pull the pure Earth energy (seen as either white, green or red in color), pull it up to your Root Chakra (seen at either the tip of the spine or at the anus), breathe in deep and see the Root Chakra shine into a brilliant circling ball of bright red light. Take another deep breathe and pull the Earth energy up to your Sacral/Stomach Chakra, I usually see it at the lower stomach area, see a bright ball of circling orange light. Take a deep breath and pull the Earth energy to your diaphragm which is your Solar Chakra, see a bright ball of circling yellow light blazing like a mini sun. Take a deep breath and pull the Earth energy up to the center of your chest, this is the Heart Chakra, see a bright ball of green light. Take a deep breath and pull the Earth energy up to your throat, this of course is the Throat Chakra, see a bright ball of blue light. Take a deep breath and pull the Earth energy up to the center of your forehead, between the eyes, this is the 3rd Eye Chakra, see a bright ball of purple light. Take a deep breath and pull up the Earth energy to the top of your head, this is the Crown Chakra, see a ball of bright white light. Take a deep breath and hold all seven balls of light as long as you can. When your concentration begins to wane, let the balls of light fade knowing they are charged.

Shielding:
This is great to do right after energizing your chakras. Feel the aura around you and visualize it as a sphere surrounding your body like a force field. I like to visualize my shield as a diamond that takes in good energy but reflects harmful energy. Hold this visualization and say either out loud or silently this statement of intent or something similar, “I am protected from all harm on every level”, say that three times while visualizing your shield. Hold the visualization until your concentration begins to wane then let the image fade knowing that the shield is up and empowered.

Earth Walking:
Simply go to a spot with natural surroundings like a backyard or park. At first it’s best to do this barefoot but once you get more comfortable you can do this with your shoes on. First feel your energy and aura within and around you then step onto the grass or earth area. Feel the energy of the Earth below you and try to “breathe through your feet”, basically you are pulling up Earth energy into your body from feet to head. This exercise will help you sense energy better and is a great way to learn how to channel energy as well.

These are simple yet effective magical exercises that will enhance your skills and abilities. Practice them daily or at least 3 times a week. Be sure to record each session you have into a journal or magical diary. Have fun and happy training!

Bright Blessing,

7/21/15 Log: Basic Inner Temple Meditation

I have been practicing what I call the Basic Inner Temple Meditation from Christopher Penczak’s “Gay Witchcraft” (pg.60-61). I made a voice recording of the meditation and it really has helped. In the meditation there are stairs to walk down that leads to your inner temple. The stairs that appear to me are grey castle stone stairs that spiral downward like a tower stair way. It’s lit sometimes by candles along the wall, sometimes torches and other times it has a glowing purple hue that brightens the way. The stairs have always led me to a large castle like library with walls and shelves and bookcases filled with books of every type and kind. Where the stairs lead out to the left there is a long wooden dining room table with a huge fruit bowl in the middle over flowing with fruit. Past that there is a large ornate French window that opens out to a white slate stoned balcony that overlooks a breathe taking mountain view. To the right of the stairs there are a couple ornate wooden study desks and until recently there was just an ordinary window, but now it’s a glass and wood door that leads to a stone pathway on the immediate right is a stone pond with a water fall, to the immediate left is a garden and the path leads to an open field. Straight ahead of the stairs are about 3 or 4 rooms filled with book cases that reach the ceiling. In the far back is a brick fireplace with 2 large red leather chairs and a small black wooden side table between them. In the meditation you need to find a reflective service, mine is always a mirror that is to the right of the door that leads to the field. Sometimes the mirror is silver and other times it’s wooden but it is always full body and it’s always to the right of that door. I have recently gotten much better at actually seein myself in the mirror. When I see myself in the mirror I look just like how I look in the physical realm, I am always wearing what I am wearing in the physical or if skyclad the. I am also skyclad. I have successfully changed my skyclad astral self to be robed in fine black material. I’ve also changed my hair and face. A couple times when I looked in the mirror it was not my reflection but the reflection of a twenty something Renaissance girl, with long light brown hair in a renaissance style hair netting, her dress is white with some soft reds and she has green eyes like mine. When she appears she always smirks then instantly it changes to my physical appearance. I get a strong guy feeling that she is me from a past life, or at least that she is a part of my souls history somehow. I feel at peace and a great surge of euphoria when I’m in my Inner Temple.

Log 12/4/13

I have changed the visualization attached to the last line of the Mantra of Oneness. When I say “I am one with the Universe” Instead of visualizing a spiral I instead visualize a ball of brilliant light shining above me, filling me with white cosmic light from head to toe. The ball of brilliant light represents the Source or Goddess. Doing this has enhanced the mantra further and the result is a better connection to Universe (and my higher self as well).
On another subject, since my last encounter with Horse spirit, I have been calling on Horse for endurance during work. When I call on Horse, I see it melding with myself and turning me into the chocolate brown horse I changed into in my last session. The results are an immediate increase in energy, I feel strong and confidant after the calling and work has been easier to handle. I have also melded with Fox to acquire the sharp wit and cunning needed in certain situations. I have found that Fox can help when one needs eloquent speech or critical thinking. I also find that I can meld with Fox when I want to go unnoticed and need camouflage.
My abilities have increased tremendously and I am happy with the way my studies have evolved. Spell craft has been easier and I have more vitality in living. Where just a while ago I was feeling stuck in a funk, I now feel positive and more in control of my life and path.
Blessed be,
Tytus Lionheart

Log 11/23/13

Trying out an experiment with a mantra to be said during the 3 points of the day, waking, midday, and before sleep. I will do this for 28 days. Upon which a channel should then be set up based on the affirmations and visualizations in the mantra. Making it easier for me to access these energies. I call it the Mantra of Oneness, “I am one with the elements.” Then visualize the four elements, earth, air, fire, water. “I am one with myself.” Visualize the 7 major chakras and my aura. “I am one with the universe.” Visualize a spiral that is my symbol for universe. Besides that I am busy trying to put together my own Triangle of Manifestation. It will be a great project to undertake and can only work to enhance my spell craft.
I am still putting together my Ritual B.o.S, I am rewriting some sabbat rituals and what not. Just another day being witchy haha.

Log 11/18/13

"The more I know, the less I understand"
I have been so drained lately, But I’m chugging on as good as the next guy. Work is strenuous and even my magickal studies have been taken up a notch. I have yet to visit Fox again, I have so many questions since our last visit in my Inner Sanctum. Fox spirit told me its lesson was camouflage and to know when I am being deceived. Ive tried to be more low-key, I haven’t been out at all, instead I have been at home studying but being observant of my friends and home environment. I don’t know if Im doing what Fox came to teach but Im trying things out till I get to ask Fox to clarify what it means by camouflage. When I last saw Fox I asked how I would know if Im being deceived. Fox answered ” you will know it in your thoughts and in your being”. I have been trying to detect if people around me have been deceiving me. While I don’t believe that anyone is lying about anything terrible (I did notice when they embellished), it does force me to examine how the people around me speak and their mannerisms.
Anyways I have still been putting togeter my Ritual Book of Shadows (b.o.s) and noticed I was missing some key components in my own ritual construction. Cakes and Wine, Drawing Down the Moon and others were missing from my book, so now Im working on getting them down for future use. Thats whats been up so far, just chuggin away at life. Happy though. “The journey is the destination” as the Taoists say.

Magickal Training

It is important, especially for the beginner, to develop a daily routine that employs your latest lessons in the occult. Below are some exercises and routines I employ for my magickal training. This is just a guideline set and is not the end all beat all of the occult regimen, feel free to pick and choose or employ all of them if you so desire. This regimen is a mixture of Wicca/witchcraft and Ceremonial magick:

  • Stretching/ exercise- Yoga is especially appropriate for this. Such actions are known as 'polishing the temple' and should be apart of your daily practice.
  • Grounding/shielding/centering- Be sure you make a regular practice of these. There are techniques given on this blog for grounding and shielding [here], and there is a centering technique known as the Qabalistic Cross [here]
  •  The Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram (LBRP)- One of the most important rituals to perform on a daily basis. The LBRP will increase the strength of your aura and clear the area you perform it in from all negativity. It raises the energies of your magickal being.
  • The Middle Pillar- The middle pillar should be practiced after the LBRP and will allow you to tap into the universal power, eventually with practice this power can be used in healing and charging talismans.
  • Chakra Balancing- There are many techniques for balancing the chakras. Chakras are energy centers within the body that must be charged and strengthen through meditation. You should learn to open and close chakras, start with the so called Seven Major Chakras that is the Root, the Sacral chakra, the Solar chakra, the Heart, the Throat chakra, the Third Eye, and the Crown.
  • Elemental Assimilation- Working in harmony with the elements will greatly increase your magickal ability and understanding. There are four elements that you assimilate with: Earth, Air, Fire and Water. You can learn more about this process [here]. Each element should first be approached one by one. One element for one week, at the end of that week, practice a spell that involves the quality of that element. After this is achieved move onto the next element and so on. Once all four elements have been assimilated, reduce the practice to once a month or whenever you deem it necessary.
  • Earthing- Earthing is exactly what it sounds like, spending time to walk, sit or lie down on an area of Earth. Parks, backyards, hiking trails and etc, are all good ways of Earthing. I practice Earthing every morning in my backyard, I walk around my grass barefoot drinking in the energies of the earth from my feet and releasing them through my breath, this is known as "breathing through your feet". This may seem like a simple act but its importance can only be understood after daily practice.
  • Simple Meditation- Sometimes we get caught up in both the magickal and mundane that we forget to simply relax. Meditation is a powerful tool for the occult practitioner, finding our center even in the most trying environments (city bus, crowded park, noisy housemates) is beneficial to all who practice magick. Simply sit down, breathe for three counts then count backwards from 12 to 1, breathing with each count, and once you reach 1 you will be in a relaxed state. A trick for those just beginning, if your mind wanders simply pull it back and breath, if noises in your area distract you, listen to them and realize you are at one with them then breathe. The breath is a tool, use it to calm yourself and ease your tension. I have been told to meditate for at least 30min a day. Thats a little extreme for beginners, I'd say make an attainable goal and then work to increase it. Start with 3min, then 5min and so and so forth.
I feel this is enough for the budding practitioner to start with. There are many great techniques here for increasing your magickal ability and for bettering your life in general. Discipline is the first virtue to attain on the path of magick. Be strong and keep on, make sure to record your experiences in a journal that is used for your magick and meditation. Record in it the moon phase, date and time as well as the weather and your emotional state at the time. You will see a pattern emerge after some time of practicing. Use this as your ultimate tool, the Magickal Journal. It will tell you more about yourself than you can realize. "Know Thyself" is a law of magick.

The Witch’s Pyramid

The power used in magick and witchcraft is rooted in the knowledge of four simple rules known as the witch’s pyramid. These are the four corner stones of magick, and though they may not be completely magickal in and of themselves, their joint application is. The ability to utilize the four magick rules will result in the ability of what is known as ‘witch power’.

The four rules of magick are: Imagination, Willpower, Faith and Silence.

Imagination is the ability to summon within your mind an idea or desire. The imagination used in the witch’s pyramid should be focused and complete.

Willpower is the drive for the idea and desire summoned with imagination. This is the magickal will, which should be potent and unwavering.

A firm Faith in ones abilities is also necessary for the application of the magickal will and vivid imagination. Without this then there would be no belief in the powers of the witch. You must have strong faith in your spells, faith in your own true power.

Silence is a necessary tool for the budding practitioner of the occult arts. Though we are in a more ‘enlightened’ time period in which there is more freedom, it would do you well to practice in the art of secrecy. Tell no one of your workings that is not understanding to your cause. For their cynical responses can be damaging to the faith that you have built and their negative energies can affect the course of a spell. Also a more mundane reasoning to keeping silent about your workings is the very real damage of fear. Fear from neighbors who upon learning of your extra-curriculum activities will proceed to call the authorities every night you are casting a spell. Fear from coworkers who slander your good name to elevate themselves and diminish your time at a job. Fear from fanatics who will picket your house or harass you with their benedictions and prayers of enslavement.

The culmination of the four rules or pyramid powers will result in the basic and fundamental achievement of witch power. Stay true to the witch’s pyramid and magick will most certainly be a foot.

Lionheart’s Protection Potion

This potion is best prepared during the waning moon as close to the new moon as possible. Also steel or iron pots are good for creating protection potions (though for any other potion I highly recommend glass or earthenware pots).

Tools:
·      Steel or Iron pot
·      Mortar and Pestle
·      Bowl or mixing vessel
·      Measuring Cup
·      Measuring Spoons (table spoon and teaspoon needed)
·      Cheesecloth
·      Jar or Bottle that can hold at least 1 ½ cup of water with out over flowing

Ingredients:
·      1 ½ cups Water
·       1 tablespoon Sea Salt
·      2 teaspoons Ground Sage
·      2 teaspoons St. John’s Wort
·      1 teaspoon Dragons Blood (ground)
·      1 teaspoon Juniper

Instructions:
In a bowl or vessel start mixing the herbs together, enchanting each ingredient with red protective energy. Do this by holding the herb in your power hand (the hand you write with) and visualize yourself being filled with red light, slowly start tensing your muscles while chanting “Protection, Protection, Protection…”, I find it helps to also visualize a shield while building the energy, then focus the red light into your power hand and release your muscles slowly visualizing the energy transferring into the herb. Once the ingredient is enchanted add it to the bowl or vessel. Do this for each herb. The Dragons Blood can be enchanted while you crush it in your mortar and pestle, as you grind the Dragons Blood chant and visualize red light being pushed into the powder. Once you have enchanted and added each ingredient to the bowl begin mixing with your power hand while focusing on your intent. Now place your hands over the mixture and again enchant it with red protective energy.
Next bring 1 ½ cup of water to boil, add the tablespoon of sea salt and mix well. Once the water is boiling turn heat down slightly and mix in your herb mixture. Let steep while mixing occasionally, here I would like to note that you should still be focusing on your intent. Once the herbs are blended place hands over the mixture (careful not to burn yourself) and enchant one last time with red protective energy. Turn off the heat and let cool. Once the mixture has cooled use the cheesecloth to strain the potion into your jar or bottle. Label the potion and date it.

Using your potion: DO NOT DRINK! This potion is for anointing your wrists and third eye while visualizing a red shield surrounding you, or you can use it to anoint candles for protection spells or even jewelry like necklaces to give them a protective power. The potion should last a long while as long as you keep it in a dark place away from direct sunlight. Record your performance and results in a journal specifically used for magick, dreams and meditations.

Wiccan Inspiration: Magick Motto

A magickal motto is a name or phrase that you instill into your daily meditations and prayers, this is so the motto integrates itself with your essence. Technically any quote or adopted name can be a motto such as "As Above, So Below" an ancient axiom that is a simplified explanation about how the microcosm reflects the macrocosm, or that the universe is reflected in its smaller parts. My name Tytus Lionheart, is a motto, Tytus is an old polish name meaning 'fire', the element I am most attuned to and a reflection of my personal nature, it is also a link to my past as my Grandmother was a practicing witch who escaped from Poland to America when the Nazis invaded. Lionheart is a testament to my adoration of the symbol of the lion; a symbol of strength, courage, loyalty and pride. All of these qualities are integrated into myself when I refer to myself as Tytus Lionheart, I mark my tool and talismans with this name. I represent myself to the online and Wiccan communities as Tytus Lionheart, so then these qualities are representing me. Mostly the motto is an insight, a revelation that you spend your whole life attuning yourself to, such as Aleister Crowley's motto "Love is the Law, Love under Will" from which he spent the rest of his years working this motto into his life and spiritual practice.
A magickal motto has been revealed to me as well, one given to me by my Higher Self and I have begun melding it into my practice, usually I end a prayer or invocation with this motto, “Thy Will is God: Thy Will be Done”- this motto is my combination of the principles in the axioms “as above, so below” and “do what thou wilt”. “Thy Will is God” reminds me that my soul is a part of the Great Spirit and I am a reflection of the Divine Will, there for my Will must be in tune with the Will of the Great Spirit. “Thy Will be done”; 'Will' here is that of True Will, True Will is attuned to the Will of the Great Spirit as should be accomplished through the work of the magician and witch. It also means that one should put to good use the abilities granted when one is attuned to their True Will, through the power of the soul connected to the divine, one should use that power for the benefit of others in need of such power. Examples of this are healing, divination, spirit communication, protection, spiritual guidance, path working, teaching magick, etc. It is also a reminder that learning and studying the occult and magick is not just for personal power but for the power of a community as well. It is important for me that I give back for all I have been blessed with. So then “thy will be done” is the Will of the Great Spirit which is always for the highest good and benefit of all.

Circle Casting by Tytus Lionheart

The most important part of a Wiccan Ritual is the Circle of Art. The Circle is casted to act as many things: a boundary of sacred space to keep out unwanted influences, a battery that enhances magickal energy by building it up in a condensed space, as a place between worlds where one can visit gods, summon for the spirits of arcane origin or cast a spell into the universe. The circle is a symbol of the universe; it is a microcosm of the macrocosm, a reflection of the universe and its powers. All acts done within the circle are magickal ones that can bring about great change within and without. So then the casting of the circle becomes an important ritual for any Wiccan to learn and know. There are as many ways to cast a circle as there are Wiccans, I will give an example of my own circle casting technique, feel free to copy this one or to alter it to your own tastes just be sure to keep the basic components of the circle casting when making your modifications and you should have excellent results.

To begin you must first find a space where you and those participating will not be disturbed during ritual. Once the space is found you must physically cleans it, sweep away dirt, wipe away dust, clear away obstacles, you want a large enough working space to fit the circle which can be as large or small as the space allows. Just be sure you will be able to make your movements within the circle easily without obstruction. Now that the space is prepared make sure you have the following items:

·         Athame (ritual knife *optional)

·         4 pillar candles of red, yellow, green, blue

·         Matches/lighter

·         Compass

·         2 small bowls; one filled with sea salt the other filled with fresh water

Place all these items on our in your workspace.

The instructions here are build on the basic formula for a circle casting, now as I have stated you may copy my ritual here or construct your own using this own as a guide but there are some basic principles of circle casting that must be adhered to for a successful casting. So you may change the incantations, you may change which direction you start in, you can even change the representations of the four elements but the basic components are best left unchanged.

Our first step, that is a basic in almost all ritual proceedings, is the cleansing of the space from unwanted, negative energy. Energy builds up in areas like dust and often it needs to be cleared away before a magickal proceeding can take place so this energy doesn’t affect the ritual workings. There are many ways to cleanse a space and you can employ whichever way is best for you but as long as you cleanse before you begin, this is important.

I cleanse a space by using Holy Water; in Wicca Holy Water is a combination of charged salt and water. The symbolism behind this is that salt represents the purest form of Earth and water is the main component to every living thing, so then mixing the salt into the water is a symbolic act of taking purity and spreading it into life (there are different explanations of this symbolism, this is just one). The instructions for creating Holy Water that I am about to unfold are a part of the Correllian Natavist Tradition’s teachings and they can be found at (witchschool.com):

How to Create Holy Water:

·         Place your power hand (the hand you write with) over the water. Make three Tuathail (counter-clockwise) circles over the water, concentrating on removing and negativity from it. Say something like:

“Behold I cleanse you, O creature of Water, casting out from you any impurities which may lie within!”

·         Visualize yellow-white light pouring down from your hand into the water, and forcing out negativity (which can be seen as black dispersing like dust particles).

·         Now make three Deosil (clock wise) circles with your hand over the water. Say something like:

“And I do bless and consecrate you to this work!”

·         Visualize the water being filled with, clear, blue-white light. Imagine the water filling with this light until it shines as brightly as if it were a blue-white sun within it.

·         Now turn to the salt. Place your hand over it and repeat the above instructions like you did the water but when you cleanse the salt with yellow light say:

“Behold, I cleanse you, O creature of Earth, casting out from you any impurities that may lie within!

·         Then when you make the Deosil circles with the blue white light say:

“And I do bless and consecrate you to this work!”

·         Visualize the salt being filled with the blue-white light until the light shines like a blue-white sun within it. Now say something like:

“Behold, the salt is pure! Behold the water is pure! Purity into Purity then, and purity be blessed!”

·         Add three pinches of salt to the water and stir clock wise visualizing the whole mixture as shining a bright white light.

·         You have now made Holy Water!

Take the Holy Water and walk Deosil (clock wise) around the area of your working. As you go around the area, asperse it, that is to say, sprinkle it with the Holy Water. As you do this imagine the area being flooded with yellow light. Let the yellow light fill the area, going out in all directions for a good distance. This is the act that actually sends out the negativity, so focus on it as strongly as possible.

·         As you asperse the area you may wish to say something like:

“Behold I cleanse and purify this space.”

When you’ve made a full circle, replace the Holy Water to the altar. Turn to face the inside of the circle and say:

“I bless and consecrate this space!”

Now visualize the area being filled with blear blue-white light, so it is wholly filled in all directions.

You have just cleanse and blessed your ritual space. You are now ready to cast the circle.

Casting the Circle:

The traditional method of casting a circle is with the use of a ritual tool called an athame (Ah-THAH-may) which is a ritual knife. If you do not have one that is fine because all you really need is your pointer finger of your power hand (the hand you write with), in the ritual outline when I use the word athame just replace it with the word finger if you are not using an athame. Before we begin place the four candles in their proper places, each of the candles represents an element: red is fire, blue is water, yellow is air and green is earth. Using your compass; place the red candle in the south, the blue in the west, the green in the north and the yellow in the east.

·         Begin in the East, point your Athame outward past the elemental candle. The boundaries of the circle is not limited to the space of your room, it can become much larger, since the circle is made of energy it is not blocked or hampered by walls, so make your circle a comfortable size. Just be sure that the area you cast the circle in is cleansed and that no other people will be wandering through it.

·         Visualize a beam of red light shooting from the tip of your athame and ending at the area you are pointing at.

·         Focus hard on this light and now begin to trace a circle with the red light, walking Deosil towards the south side, keep focusing on the red light.

·         The most important thing is to focus on the circle boundary being strong, but if you want to say an incantation to help with visualization you can say something like:

“Behold, I do cut a space between the realms; a Circle of Art, to focus and contain the power raised herein!”

·         Continue this way pass the west side then the north and back to the east. See the red line connecting to its starting point in the east.

·         Now raise your athame and visualize the circle expanding into a dome above you and say:

“As Above,”

·         Now lower you athame, pointing it to the ground, visualize the dome of red light extending below you, so that you are encased in a red sphere of energy and say:

“So Below!”

You have just casted the circle. Now it is time to call the Quarters also called the Watchtowers. They are the elemental guardians and they aid us in our magick so that its manifestation is more successful, they control the flow of energy into the universe.

·         Walk to the eastern yellow candle and light the candle saying,

“Hail to the Guardian of the Watchtower to the East, power of Air and intellect! Be here with us in our circle and give to us your blessing and your aid in our work. Hail and Welcome!”

·         Visualize a pillar of yellow light rising up before you from the yellow candle.

·         Now go to the south, light the red candle while saying,

“Hail to the Guardian of the Watchtower to the South, power of Fire and Will! Be here with us in our circle and give to us your blessing and your aid in our work. Hail and Welcome!”

·         Visualize a pillar of red light rising up before you from the red candle.

·         Now go to the west, light the blue candle while saying,

“Hail to the Guardian of the Watchtower to the West, power of Water and emotion! Be here with us in our circle and give to us your blessing and your aid in our work. Hail and Welcome!

·         Visualize a pillar of blue light rising from the blue candle.

·         Now go to the north, light the green candle while saying,

“Hail to the Guardian of the Watchtower to the North, power of Earth and silence! Be here with us in our circle and give to us your blessing and your aid in our work. Hail and Welcome!”

·         Visualize a pillar of green light rising from the green candle.

You have successfully invoked the four Watchtowers to guard and aid your Magick Circle. The Magick Circle is now cast. Now you must invoke Deity and then you can proceed with the body of your ritual or spell.

The invocation to Deity should come from your heart and from your own words especially if you are working with a specific God or Goddess. If you wish you may use this general invocation to the Great Spirit from which all Gods and Goddesses come from:

“Holy Mother-Father God, Universal Force of life Which sustains all things, be here with us now and aid us in our work. Give us your blessing and your guidance, I pray to you with love and gratitude for your aid!”

Now at this time you would proceed with the body of your ritual or spell, performing any magickal act that needs to be done within the circle. Once finished its time to deconstruct the circle, first you must Devoke the Gods:

“Holy Mother-Father God, Great Spirit of the Universe, thank you for being here with us during this rite. The working is over, I offer you my love and bid you Hail and Farewell!”

Now we must depart the watchtowers starting in the North this time and walking Tuathail (counter-clockwise). In the North stand before the green candle and pillar of light, say:

“Guardian of the Watchtower to the North, thank you for being here with us during this rite. We thank you for your aid but the rite is now over. I offer you my love and bid you Hail and Farewell!”

Visualize the Green pillar of light descending into the green pillar candle and then snuff out the flame (do not blow it out!). Continue doing this for each of the Watchtowers and candles; saying thanks to the watchtowers and biding them farewell, seeing the pillar of light descending into the candle and then snuffing out the candle. Do this until you get to the east and once that candle is snuffed pick up your athame and point it out wards towards the east where the circle of art is. Visualize the red light of the circle being sucked into the athame while you walk Tuathail around the circle while saying:

“The rite is over, the spell complete; this ring of power shall now dissipate. So Mote It Be!”

Continue absorbing the circles energy with your athame until you are back at the east.

You have just casted and dismantled a magick circle.

There are many variations to this as I stated earlier. Instead of four candles you could use the four Ace cards of the Tarot (Swords is air/east, wands is fire/south, pentacles/coins is earth/north, and cups is water/west) or you could use physical objects of the elements (Candle for fire, rock for earth, shell for water, incense for air). Whatever works best for you, just be sure to stick to this format: Cleanse space, set up altar, cast circle, call Quarters, invoke Deity, perform body of ritual/spell, devoke deity, bid farewell to quarters, and then absorb the circle. You can personalize this as much as you want just be sure to keep this basic structure intact and your circle casting should be successful.
